Philomena Meetup Success!

Updated: Jul 15

Thanks to everyone who came out Thursday, June 6 to help us support our beloved local pizza spot and connect with other transit advocates, and a politician or 5!

BART District 7 candidates Victor Flores and Dana Lang came and charmed everyone, along with City Council at Large candidate Charlene Wang, and Assembly member Mia Bonta's representative Rowena Brown. Cinthya Muñoz Ramos, Chief of Staff for Councilperson Nikki Fortunato-Bas stopped by as well, bringing her sweet kids along for some pizza.

We were so happy to bring attention to our Philomena, which has been struggling in the last year from lack of business. We are confident Philomena, and places like it, could benefit so much from a transit hub nearby. It's all about foot traffic, pedestrian-friendly streets, and safety!

Finally, we need your help! Here are three things you can do THIS WEEK to help make San Antonio Station a reality:

  • If you haven’t already done so, sign the San Antonio Station petition and share it with your friends, family, neighbors, and broader network.

  • Join us online on Monday, June 10th from 6:00-7:30 pm for the Link21 Program’s FINAL Virtual Community meeting to speak in support of San Antonio Station! Let us know if you plan to attend and we’ll follow up by sharing talking points with you. Even if you don't wish to speak, your presence makes a difference. You can add this meeting to your calendar by clicking this link.

  • Join us in person at City Hall on Tuesday, June 11th at 11:30am for Oakland City Council’s Public Works and Transportation Committee to speak in support of San Antonio Station! The Committee will be getting an update on the Link21 Program, and we want to be there to let them know that Oakland supports San Antonio Station as part of this regional rail mega-project! Again, let us know if you plan to attend and we’ll follow up by sharing talking points with you. You can check out more details about this meeting at this link.

Once again, thank you for joining our grassroots movement for San Antonio Station. We are grateful and energized by your support, and looking forward to working with you to turn this dream into a reality.

Dream big, and connect Oakland!
